The Grand Cru Schoenenbourg, a land of choice for Riesling, also allows for the production of great sweet wines from Gewurztraminer, overlooking Riquewihr.
According to Voltaire, the noblest wines of this country grow in Schoenenbourg. This particular terroir is composed of gypsum marl, Vosges sandstone and muschelkalk.
The geological and climatic characteristics as well as the strict production restrictions of their specifications make them exceptional wines, unique and complex, expressing the very essence of the Terroir. These wines are wines for aging par excellence.
